Holding Hands Still Counts
Words & Music ©2005 Seth & Nathan Johnson

Halfway through the day
We let them get away
And when we fell behind,
I didn't mind

5 inches of snow on the ground beneath us, it's piling up
5 inches of down between us each time we hug
This winter wool covers us up
But holding hands still counts
when you're wearing gloves

Halfway through the night
The lake had turned to ice
A bitter chill had filled the air;
I didn't care

9 inches of snow on the ground beneath us, it's piling up
5 inches of down between us with every hug
This winter wool covers us up
But holding hands still counts
when you're wearing gloves

9 inches of snow on the ground beneath us,
and I'm in love
5 inches of down between us, and I'm in love
They say the sun don't shine
But I've got your hand in mine
And holding hands still counts when you're wearing gloves

Perfect Season
© Katie Chastain 2005

Whispering willows and snow covered meadows
The raven-black night sky stitched up with the stars
Hand in hand, forget the world tonight
Meteor showers and clocks spinning backwards
Oceans of plenty meet bankrupt seashores
Her words linger and catch upon his tongue

Oh, it’s the perfect season
For lovers to dance all through the night
And soon discover
Above the clouds they hover
Like wide-eyed travellers far from familiar sights

Light through the leaves and rust on the church door
Daffodil smiles and lazy porch swings
Silvery moonlight covers them with dreams
A long, lost song on the phonograph
Like a vagabond’s prayer that he never look back
She’s wearing her favorite dress for him tonight

The Most Unsightly Christmas Tree
© Rian Johnson 2005

The most unsightly Christmas tree sat there in the forest
while the villagers came to pick their Christmas trees for the year.
And the tall trees and the leafy trees were picked off by the dozens,
but no one wants the most unsightly tree.
So he sat there all alone in the cold barren field
and watched the torches twinkle in the village far below.
And when the most unsightly Christmas tree knew Christmas now was over,
he breathed a sigh.
Of relief.

A Holiday Hymn
© Tony Winn 2005

I got your email
Forwarded to all your friends
Call to action call to arms
Our saviors in trouble
Names been ripped from the day he died for

I didn’t forward
I did not call congressman
Learned this lesson once before
From another note
You sent on marriage this time last year

Many years ago
A man not unlike ourselves
And his poor beautiful wife
Barely paid the bills
So they called a meeting in our church

Since the lawmakers
At that time were of the same
Demographic and ideals
They gave honor
To marriage and saved us a lot of cash

The Years went by and
Finally the Lord’s justice
Heard heathens helpless cries
For health care and
An equal share in this burden we all bear

The lord sighs and says
What have I given that you that you wouldn’t sell?
At your office Christmas parties but before the drunken orgies

Will you feel like you severed me?
If its just the feeling you need
I’d say you’re well on your way

That's All...
© Zachary Johnson 2005

i'm not gonna call
but if you'd come home soon
you could be here for christmas

ok, fine, i'll call
but one time is all
i never really thought i'd miss you

but you left last fall
your photo's on the wall
holidays sure make for distance

ba-dah-bum-bum-bum.

i'm at the mall
where a year ago i bought you that white pair of mittens

and the tree is tall
and the lights are all burning
but i still feel listless

white blankets of snow
and mistletoe
you know, for things like kisses

um, my telephone
wants you to know
that it's lonely, and that it wishes you'd call

that's all.

See No Savior
by Andy Zipf 2005
c.BMI/Zipf Publishing

see my words lie on the ground
see them falling, feeble
see the fertile soil is gone
and I see no savior

in the father, in the child
in the rising temple
in such faces, there is doubt
and I see no savior

when your master comes
through this red light town
we will witness your fall
as he tears you down

will you come in darkest hour?
is there comfort waiting?
do you hear me when I call?
cause I see no savior
will I see my savior?

Looking For Light
© Reva Williams 2005

we all wander around outside until we go numb
we talk and never stop because the kingdom didn't come
holler for the circus, forget to pay our bills
jack and jill each other until we fall down a hill
the people in darkness are looking for a light

we will listen with the sound off
try and get some rest
from the bellow and beating of the truth in our chests
we all want something to purple out our eyes
but the deaf, dumb and blind kind can't be hypnotized
the people in the darkness are looking for a light

o come, o come emmanuel
and ransom captive israel
that mourns in lonely exile here
until the son of god appear

Christmas Canoodling
© Scott Teague 2005

put on your winter coats
time for a midnight stroll
our hands connect at once
and we keep walking

the morning holds us both
we sleep without our clothes
we wake with sudden easy
and keep on dreaming

christmas is round the bend
it sneaks up and then
their smiles light up a room
and it is snowing

back from the movie store
we are candy whores
we retrieve the alcohol
and the shit begins

christmas is so much more
than i bargained for
you can't deny me that
i'm just a kid trying to believe
