Christmas Time

Jon Steinmeier

Christmas time
is always lovely
i'm in love with an elf

christmas time
is always lovely
everybody wears boots

i'm online
if you want me
i'll be chill'n eat'n fruit

christmas time
is always lovely

i just ate a whole pie

christmas time
is always lovely
jesus christ i'm really tired

Hallelujah

Mighty Purple

Well a savior's born
in the cold of winter
and the star's bright light
guides all who wander
through the dark of night
over hill and pasture
Hallelujah

well the songbirds sing
in the eaves of the stable
and the fire dies out
as the sun breaks the morning
Hallelujah

And the mother and child
at peace with the new day
there are kings from afar
and shepherds kneeling
Hallelujah

Peace, Please, Please

by Benjamin Esposito

People seem full of life as they rush from store to store
And try their best to keep their loved ones near
No one's really sure how to act during a war
Eating, drinking, sleeping, and fear, so much fear

The man on the news says "ignore what we're doin'"
but evil for evil always ends up in ruins

Carolers at the door singing "hail the newborn king"
Christmas magic shining in their eyes
And the soldier's widow cries cause she's forgotten how to sing
She can't quite bring herself to say goodbye

The man on the television tells me it's fine
So I slouch on the couch with my third glass of wine

and while children everywhere are ignoring their toys
God's unwrapping boxes of tears from the moms of our boys

and the baby in the manger is crying, crying peace please please

The Worst Christmas We Ever Had

Destroying Something Beautiful

The worst Christmas we ever had.
The tree burned down before we heard a sound.
We left so many things unsaid
They built up inside until my mother cried.
She tried to write us a Christmas card..
But we threw it away before we read what she had to say.
The worst Christmas we ever had..
But it's the last one we'll ever spend together.

King Herod and the Magi

The New Time

Now three kings there were in Persia land, far across the Orient
And they saw a star appear in the night, shining in the Western sky
And they said, “Come let us go and see, the newborn child King to be”
And one brought gold and one brought myrrh, frankincense was the gift of the third

King Herod, Herod we come so far
From the East, following a star
King Herod, Herod a child is born
King of ‘em all, the one that we been waiting for

Now the three kings went before Herod’s throne, told him of the star the prophecy foretold
And King Herod said go and follow the light, tell me where the child is sleeping tonight
But an angel appeared to the Magi and said, “Herod ain’t your friend, he wants the baby dead
Cos he told his men, ‘run as fast as you can, slaughter all the children throughout all the land’”

King Herod, Herod we come so far
From the East, following a star
King Herod, Herod a child is born
King of ‘em all, the one we’re waiting for
King Herod, Herod your kingdom is no more
Listen to the shouts, the angels of the Lord sing

The Incarnation

words by Charles Wesley, music by Reva Williams

Glory be to God on high and peace on earth descend
God comes down; he bows the sky. He shows himself our friend
God th’invisible appears. God the blest, the great I Am
Sojourns in this vale of tears and Jesus is his name

Him the angels all adored. Their maker and their king
Tidings of their humbled Lord they now to mortals bring
Emptied of his majesty of his dazzling glories shorn
Being’s Source begins to be and God himself is born!

See th’eternal Son of God: A mortal Son of Man
Dwelling in an earthly clod, whom heaven cannot contain!
Stand amazed ye heavens at this.
See the Lord of earth and skies!
Humbled to the dust he is and in a manger lies!

We sons and daughters of men rejoice, the Prince of Peace proclaim
With heaven’s host lift up our voice and shout Immanuel’s name
Knees and hearts to him we bow, of our flesh and of our bone
Jesus is our brother now and God is all our own.
